Early this year I wrote my first short stage play and adapted a short film for the stage. This last Saturday (19th October 2019) those two short plays were part of an event called Shorties which featured 7 short plays from new and established writers.
Watching my work being performed by actors was a rollercoaster of emotion. First I absolutely hated it. It was like every script mistake I made was a hammer blow.
But the production was good, the director and actors did a fantastic job and the audience laughed at the right places and clapped at the end. I’ve rewatched the performance three times now and come to terms with it, there are still bits i’d change (and will) but i’m pleased as punch with what I did.
